Mick Kelly, (full name: Michael Augustine Aloysius Kelly) Was born in 2009 into an Irish traveller family in county Cork, Ireland. His mother went into labour with him while driving, so his legally blind father took over the wheel but crashed the car into a lamp post on the way to the hospital/; Mick was delivered in the back seat.

When paramedics and fire rescue personnel arrived they found the infant Kelly viciously defending his mother. In the brawl that followed, the minutes old Kelly KO'd thee men before he could be held down and restrained.

The Kelly family eventually moved to Dublin and, when Michael was age seven, to Chicago, Illinois. By that time, there were ten children in the Kelly family. After his younger sister, Louise, died from alcohol poisoning, his mother left the family to live with another woman. Kelly subsequently spent much of his youth in various children's homes, foster care, and was a serial truant from school.

Like most of the Irish his mother had taught him to shoplift as a child, and he was involved in petty crime throughout his youth in Chicago. At eleven years old, he was training with Joe Biek's community outreach program at the House of the Flying Hurricane. Kelly also played football for a local South Chicago middle school, often playing both offense and defense... mostly because he liked to hit things... a lot.

A disturbing trend then began to play itself out. Every fight where Kelly entered the ring massively hung over for an all night drinking binge, he would win in convincing fashion. Every fight where he ate well, abstained from the devil's water, and got plenty of sleep would see him on the business end of a opponents fist... and typically on the losing side of the card.
