Round 1 The fighters circle each other. Belfort snaps back the head of Gabi Martinez with a stiff jab. Gabi gets hit with a strong punch, putting him to the mat, but he recovers just in time to give up his back. Martinez carefully protects himself from Celso Belforts strikes. Gabi starts to wiggle out of back control, Belfort lets him escape putting them both on their feet. The fighters circle each other. Celso sends Martinez to the mat with a well timed jab, falling into his guard. The bell signals the end of round 1.
Round 2 An outside leg trip puts Martinez into side control. Gabi slides his knee across the body of Celso and takes full mount. Gabi Martinez maintains mount but laying some well timed strikes. Belfort gives his back up trying to escape the mount. Martinez tries to set in a rear naked choke, but can't quite finish it. Gabi peppers Celso with several shots to the face. Round 2 is finished.
Round 3 Gabi Martinez takes a heavy kick to the arm attempting to block his head. After an exchange of punches, the fighters engage in the clinch. Gabi Martinez is in the clinch with Celso Belfort, and changes levels for a beautiful double leg takedown. Celso Belfort sinks a deep kimura, but Gabi Martinez slides out. This gives Celso Belfort the chance to switch to half guard. The ref stops the fight as the round comes to an end.
