Round 1 Chris Rios takes Julio down to the mat with a good double leg takedown, leading to him standing over Julio. "Viejo" stands over Julio, works his way through his open guard and lands some solid standing punches. Julio is able to grab an arm and pull "Viejo" into his guard. Artigas is almost caught in a omoplata but is able to work his way back to guard. Chris Rios drops a few strong punches, opening up Julios guard, giving him a chance to pass to mount. Julio attempts to escape mount but has no luck. Julio gives his back up trying to escape the mount. "Viejo" lands a series of heavy punches forcing Julio Artigas to roll to his back, giving "Viejo" mount. Julio gives his back up trying to escape the mount. Round 1 is over.
Round 2 Chris keeps Artigas at a distance with some well timed jabs. "Viejo" connects with a jab cross combination. Julio Artigas hits a lead uppercut and follows with a hard hook to the head of Chris Rios. Artigas dives in for a takedown but the momentum of the attempt ends in a scramble back to their feet. Rios sends Julio Artigas to the mat with a well timed jab, falling into his guard. Julio is almost caught in a omoplata but is able to work his way back to guard. Artigas dodges some ground strikes from Chris Rios, and sends a few back of his own. The ref stops the fight as the round comes to an end.
Round 3 A lazy leg kick from Chris is caught by Artigas who lands a huge overhand right, flooring Chris. Julio Artigas stands over Chris Rios, works his way through his open guard and lands some solid standing punches. Chris Rios is able to grab an arm and pull Julio Artigas into his guard. Artigas attempts to set in a hammer lock from being caught in the guard. Chris slips out of it at the last moment. Julio Artigas distracts Chris Rios with peppering shots. Julio Artigas then isolates a leg and sinks a achilles lock. Chris Rios is able to force his way out but gives up mount in the ensuing scramble. Julio Artigas punishes "Viejo" with a series of strikes from the mount. Chris gives his back up trying to escape the mount. Giving up his back, Chris panics and gives up mount instead. Julio jumps out of mount and back to dominant side control. The ref stops the fight as the round comes to an end.
