Carter circles Rokuro, mixing jabs and leg kicks. Rokuro Shioya keeps William at a distance with some well timed jabs. William connects with a series of punches forcing Rokuro Shioya into a clinch. Shioya attempts a takedown from the clinch, but Carter pulls a switch on him, ultimately leading to both fighters on their feet. A sloppy scooping ankle block is pulled of by Rokuro. William Carter is able to pull him into his guard. Shioya takes a risk going for a leglock from being caught in Williams guard. It doesn't pay off as Carter makes his way to standing. Rokuro is hit with a jab and then taken down by a beautiful single-leg takedown. Rokuro sets in an omaplata, forcing William Carter to roll through, giving Rokuro side control. William Carter almost switches side control around, but falls short at the last moment. Rokuro switches his posture a bit, and sets in an arm triangle choke. William turns purple then taps out.
